DESCRIPTION
Microbiology is the study of all microscopic organisms, principally bacteria, fungi and viruses. Microbiology is one of the foundation of biological sciences. It is also an applied science, helping health and medicine, agriculture and maintenance of the environment, as well as the biotechnology industries. We study microorganisms at the level of the community (ecology and epidemiology), at the level of the cell (cell biology and physiology), at the level of protein and gene (molecular biology). The fusion of these elements is microbiology. Dominant's advanced dictionary of microbiology is the primary but important reference of technical terms for the students of microbiology, food science and related subjects up to master's level and assumes some knowledge of basic microbiology. We have chosen to explain the terms in the simplest language. The dictionary will prove to be an useful companion to students and a valuable entry in university and college libraries.
