Conventional energy sources are dwindling fast and they have adverse effect on environment. Consequently, the author is of the opinion that non-conventional energy sources have to be harnessed which will not only meet the energy demands but also keep the environment unpolluted. He discusses different non-conventional energy sources like biogas, hydro, nuclear, solar, wind, tidal and wave, geothermal and hydrothermal energy. Furthermore, he reviews the various programmes which support the promotion of non-conventional energy.
