Mountain exploration with de Filippi in 1913-14 and on his own expedition in 1930 into Ladakh and the Karakoram. From a diary kept of a one-man expedition to Western Tibet. The geologist Giotto Dainelli (1878-1968) wanted to explore while beholden to no one-to travel as he pleased and free to make botanical and archeological discoveries at will.
