DESCRIPTION
The socio-economic life in Kashmir has always been very deeply rooted in agrarian sector but never an effort was made to study this aspect of Kashmir's history. Therefore the search for the agrarian history of Kashmir is a long and complex quest and the agrarian system of Kashmir under Dogras (1846-1889) introduces its readers to its first out post. The author begins from the lowest end of Society keeping the peasant and his toil in the field at the centre of his focus. With this focus the author examines the system of agricultural production trade and non-agricultural production so far as they were related to peasants economy and the burden of exploitation imposed by the state and the land revenue assignees which the peasant had to carry.
