This book is an experiment with nature. To some extent it proves that with a little bit of effort most of the plants and trees can be grown in different agro-climatic conditions. The book deals with a wide range of flowers, houseplants, fruits, vegetables, trees and shrubs. It has been written after experimenting with the red lateriqte soil of Hazaribagh which has a cold climate. In Patna, besides the usual flowers, vegetables and cereals, such fruits and plants were cultivated which under normal circumstances would never yield any result. The soil of Patna being alluvial the experiment was a great success. In Delhi while living in a first floor flat, the author raised plants in pots. Later, in a ground floor flat, plants were grown in pots as well as in a fairly big size compound by Delhi standards. This book is the outcome of the experience gained from cultivation in different parts of north India.
