This book 'Splendours of The Vijayanagara Empire: Architecture, Art & Painting', deals with the various aspects of the Vijayanagara art in a spectrum way. The Vijayanagara Empire (1336-1646 CE) ruled over a vast region covering the whole of south India. The remarkable and enlightened sovereignty of its rulers had resulted in the dawn of new epoch in history and comparable with any of the golden eras of history and culture.
The Vijayanagara temple architecture is absolutely sumptuous and the minutiae, elegance & rich in decorations appear majestic and beautiful. The Vijayanagara Art has a unique place and distinguished it from the different schools of art in south India. ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
C. Poornachand (b. 1955), Ph.D., retired as Reader and Head, in the Department of History and Archaeology, Besant Theosophical College, Madanapalli, Andhra Pradesh. He has authored one book and contributed a good number of research papers to reputed journals. He has completed two major research projects funded by UGC, New Delhi.
D. Kiran Kranth Choudary (b. 1954) Ph.D., D.Litt, is a well known art historian, formerly Professor and Head, Principal, Dean Faculty of Arts and Education and UGC Emeritus Fellow, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. He has authored nine books and edited six volumes. He has published more than 100 Research Papers in leading Academic Journals. He has completed successfully seven projects funded by UGC and ICHR, New Delhi. He has visited many countries and delivered talks and is also a creative writer. |
