The works contain the scenario of the Ideology and Genesis of Buddhist Schools in India that developed from its inception upto 13th Century. According to the source on Buddhist tenets, four principal schools developed during that period, which are known as Vaibhasika, Sautrantika, Cittamatra and Madhyamika. However, controversy can be found in the identification of the pioneers of those schools, specially the pioneers of the Vaibhasika and Sautrantika schools. On the other hand, regarding the genesis of these schools it happened on the basis of understanding the doctrine and philosophy taught by the compassionate master, the Buddha.
The book contains a number of 19 valuable articles presented during the last international seminar organized by the department of Indo-Tibetan Studies, Vishva-Bharati, Santiniketan in February 2013 in which more than thirty-forty scholars from outside of the university and even from abroad including the scholars from within the university participated. The entire articles specially focus on the background, biographical description and view of different Buddhist schools. |
