The University Grants Commission (UGC) was entrusted to formulate a plan with triple objectives of access and expansion, equity and inclusion, and quality and excellence in higher education. For this UGC has prepared a plan document and submitted to the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development. Now, this plan document, is being published in ten volume set of entitled, “UGC 12th Plan: Grant Schemes, Guidelines and Model Syllabi”, which introduces readers with an overview of UGC 12th plan. The volume provides detailed information about grant schemes, guidelines and model syllabi with focus on subject areas, such as, guidelines for higher education in privately-funded universities; approved new norms for release of funds to universities; proposals for establishing new universities and colleges for women; guidelines for students’ entitlement; exchange of human resources; fellowships for students with disabilities and for sports medal winners / participants; schemes on innovation, enhancing quality and greater autonomy; and hikes in 12th plan allocation, new guidelines for release of funds and instructions for related institutions to prepare own plans for grants; etc.
Model UGC syllabi, supported with exhaustive details about the subject areas, are covered in this publication. Attempts have been made towards presenting the UGC 12th plan proposals, guidelines, schemes, funding processes and model syllabi in a comparehensive way. The set of books also focuses on overview of relationship among 12th Five Year Plan, Higher Education in India and UGC. An annolated bibliography and detailed index are also given so as to facilitate further research. |
