These verses were written in the memory of the late Lt. Col. Sir Adelbert Cecil Talbot, K.C.I.E., who was the Resident of Kashmir from 1896 to 1900 and a keen admirer of its beauties. During the term of his office he was a true and practical friend to the State. He died in December, 1920.
