This book is an outcome of the cross-sectional and empirical study carried out among about 1200 elderly persons belonging to four Community Development Blocks of a highly industrialized district (Combination) in Tamil Nadu. The major focus of this research work is on diverse issue related to rural elderly socio-economic differentials among men and women, living arrangements, socio-familial interactions as well as intergenerational contacts of the elderly, in addition to their health status, disabilities and utilization of health care services. The analysis is not just restricted to frequency and cross-tabulations with suitable tests of signification, but also made use of advanced multivariable statistical techniques like binary logistic regression as well as multinomial logistic regression techniques.
