The land of Mahabharata is spread over mainly in the Northern part of India Kurukshetra Haryana, Indraprastha Delhi, Hastinapur U.P. Meerut and a part of Mathura. The main language of this region is western Hindi Khari boli which includes dialets like Haryanvi, Kaurvi, Brij.
The stories included in this work are related to the villages of this region in their own dialects. These villages are disappearing along with their mother tongues due to urbanisation, migration and influence of Hindi.
The themes of the stories included in present work are mythological, cultural beliefs disbeliefs fairies humour, political satires, fasts and festivals etc. With the modernised education and western impact, the natural rural culture is making its disappearance. It is high time to preserve these stories through literature and other modern technique so that they may serve as time capsules. |
