Female's education, equality and empowerment has become one of the crucial issues in South Asian countries to examine the assumptions under which policies, programmes and projects are formulated towards this goal. Education contributes directly to the growth of national income by improving the productive capacities of the labour force. It is a key strategy for reducing poverty, especially in the South Asian region - India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka and Nepal, where poverty is not as deep as in other developing regions.
This book will be able to contribute the dissemination of the diversity of ideas on female education as well as providing a venue for critical reflection on female's participation in labour market education, gender equality and economic empowerment in South Asia. |
