DESCRIPTION
This research study by Dr. Suguna Pathy, who is highly qualified and having long varied experience in the field of sociology and women studies, teaching and administration. The thesis raises two major questions-viz-whether cultural transformation and secondly whether caste is a part of super structure or economic structure. The study discusses the sexual division of labour keeping in view various factors affecting the women who form one third of total world labor force, but get only 10% of world's income. The study finds out that nepotism, corruption, casteism, sexism etc are results of ever declining social order. It also examines family equivalent to procreation, sexuality and women in domestic combat. Third world societies are also studied in view of socio-political institutions. The present effort is' to perceive the complexity of women's question from a wholistic point of view. The study briefly reviews the socio-economic history, land reforms, various land systems, bonded labour, rhyotwari system etc. in the State of Andhra Pradesh which has direct relevance with the present study.
