"Mammals in Captivity - a synoptic profile" is an attempt to compile various aspects of morphology, ecology, behaviour and social organizations of 50 mammalian species, generally displayed andexhibited in most of the Indian zoos, on the basis of observation made on specimens housed in twodifferent zoological gardens present in the state of West Bengal and are considered to be importantfrom conservation point of view. This book also depicts their distribution, behavioral changes incaptivity, common diseases and healthcare, food and feeding behaviour both in the wild as well asin captivity and present conservation status along with colour photographs and illustrations forbetter understanding of the species concerned and to formulate better management plan in thewild- The present compilation is meant to serve as an important resource material for students,academicians, naturalists, wildlife activists as well as for common people having interest in the fieldof wildlife and conservation biology.
