The present book is a product of research in population geography with special emphasis on scheduled caste work participation. Since the work participation is an important offshoot of economic equality and justice, it forms the central theme of this book. The author has chosen Uttar Pradesh as the study area. The largest number of scheduled caste people in India resides in the state of Uttar Pradesh, and the study of work participation of scheduled caste could best be carried out in reference to this largest state of India in terms of their population.
The trend of work participation of scheduled caste workers is viewed in relation to the work participation of the total population of the state and the scheduled caste workers of the country. The work participation of the scheduled caste and the causes of the observed trends are also analyzed in some details.
