The first edition of teaching of science has been written as a reference book for B.Ed Students in education and for teacher educators in the field of science and education as its content, illustrations are from simple situations, and it covers the growth of science in education and its application in the field of teaching.

Chapter 1 presents the concepts of science teaching, objective of science teaching - general and specific and about the science teacher and values of sciences -- utilitarian, cultural, disciplinary etc and about the qualities of science teacher and also the progress of science. Chapter 2 and 3 provides the explanation of the importance of planning and different approaches in science teaching and also lesson planning and steps involved in unit planning and lesson planning. Following four chapters deal with the different methods of science teaching, approaches, co-relation in science and with other subjects and also it explains the importance of various teaching aids and its use in science teaching and improvised aids, its advantages and its uses.
Chapter 9 discusses in detail the science laboratory planning for high schools and higher secondary schools and also different safety measures in different laboratories and different laboratory techniques.
Chapter 10 discusses in detail different principles and methods of arranging curriculum and chapter 11 discusses in detail evaluation, steps of test construction including blue print for question paper. Chapter 12 deals with different reference materials and its use in science teaching.
Chapter 13 deals with different activities in science teaching, its planning, organization, importance etc. in detail to be helpful to teacher in organization of activities related to science. |
