In this book a modest attempt has been made to study the Kamashastra with special reference to art and literature. In fact, it is an undisputed fact that the subject of Kama (love) is of eternal value and abiding interest to man. Since the genesis of man on earth, Kama has been inseparably interwoven with his consciousness and behavior, and as such knowledge of the science of Kama becomes all the more important. Further, for the stability of the individual and also of society, it is most important that the education of Kama is imparted to both men and women, especially for their upward growth and evolution. Writing a book on Kamashastra is an uphill task. It is analogous to thrusting a hand into a beehive. But for the purpose of deriving the joy of life and for tasting it, one has to undergo the process of obtaining honey from the honeycomb. This is the basic idea behind the writing of this book.
