Counseling involves talking with a person in a way that helps that person solve a problem or helps to create conditions that will cause the person to understand and/or improve his behaviour, character, values or life circumstances. Counselor or a consultant helps a person sort out issues and reach decisions affecting their lives. Career counselors work with people form all walks of life such as adolescents looking to explore career options or with experienced professionals looking for a career change. Your counselor helps you solve your own problems. The approach of career counseling varies by practitioner, but generally they include the completion of one or more assessments. These assessments typically include: interest inventories, cognitive ability tests and personality assessments. The purpose of counseling is to enable you to resolve your issues so that you can have more happiness and joy in your life. Counseling is helpful to us at any stage of our life.
