Agriculture forms the backbone of the Indian economy and despite concerted industrialization in the last five decades agriculture occupies a place of pride. Agriculture being the largest private sector occupation provides employment to around 65% of the total workforce in the country. The agricultural sector acts as a bulwark in maintaining food security and also the national security. To maintain the ecological balance, there is need for sustainable and balanced development of the agriculture and allied sectors.
In this book an attempt has been made to study the role of regional rural banks in agricultural financing for the eradication of rural poverty. The book has some practical utility to the policy makers on the growth and expansion of Regional Rural Banks in India as well as for an underdeveloped State in formulating various Rural Development Programmes. |
