Vittarioid ferns are represented by nine to ten genera throughout the world. But in India, only two genera of this group namely, Antrophyum and Vittan'a are found. Altogether 24 species of vittarioid ferns are found in India. The book Vittarioid Ferns of India encompasses the morpho-anatomical and palynological details of Indian species of the genera Antrophyum and Vitfaria. Detailed descriptions of each species are provided with beautiful line drawings and scanning electron photographs of the spores. Each species is provided with current nomenclature, synonyms, ecological notes, distribution in India along with medicinal uses if any. Earlier works have been critically reviewed. Taxonomical tangles associated with this group and the phylogenetic interrelationships with other groups of pteridophytes have been reviewed. Keys for genera and species have been provided for easy identification of the species. This book will be very useful to the researchers and faculty members who are undertaking Pteridology as a subject of their study.
