The volume I and II have been weaved into eighteen chapters having bearing on Indian nationalism. They deal with various phases of Gandhian philosophy and political thought. The repressive Acts being promulgated in South Africa greatly hurt the socio-economic dignity of Indian migrants. They were indeed hard-working people in various regions. But they were not permitted to act in a way they wanted. Their demands, as mentioned earlier, were socio-economic in contents.
The mahatma felt unhappy over these issues and after winning his legal case in the initial stage, he devoted more than two decades in South Africa and achieved success in his own way. In fact the Champaran satyagraha and the success he could achieve greatly encouraged him.
