Nissim Ezekiel-poet, playwright and art critic-ranks foremost in contemporary Indo-Anglian poetry and among the best in post-Independence Indo-Anglian literature. His output has been quite significant and of almost consistently high quality from the point of view of craftsmanship as well as subject matter.
With the above intention in mind I propose to make in deep analysis of English poetry. My main aim is to bring out his lucid critical intentions into a sort of togetherness in his poetry. More than anything else, the modern existential preoccupation and the phenomenal process of a creative mind enchant him most. An attempt is made to elucidate his existential agonies and perceptions profundities of beauty around him, with a rare purpose of enhancing the human understanding of nature, fellow men and all the predicaments of life of man in the urban society of modem times.
The main interest of my work lies in the appreciatory explication of individual poems. An attempt is also made to capture the interior landscape and commitments of Nissim Ezekiel.
This book will be an important contribution to Ezekeil criticism, but at the same time it will also benefit students and research scholars. |
