In recent years, empowerment of women has been recognized as a central issue in determining the status of women. Empowerment covers aspect such as women's control over material and intellectual resources. Empowerment is a process, not an event, which challenges traditional power equations and relations. Abolition of gender based discrimination in all institutions and structures of the society and participation of women in policy and decision making processes at domestic and public levels are few dimensions of women empowerment.
The path of development is yet to bring a perceptible change on women's empowerment. So to improve the status of women in India, socio-economic aspects concerning women empowerment must be carefully addressed. Hence all efforts on the part of the government at the central, the state and the local, the NGOs and the people as a whole must work together to combat with problem of women empowerment. Let us work together to build India with rural development of both men and women.
