This book is an earnest endeavor to represent the mind of a musician seeking the ideal. In the process there has been a journey into the past and a peep into the future to arrive at a balance for an ideal present. The word Saadhana has been chosen very carefully and with a distinct sense of possessiveness, as every word in the book has been experienced and reflected upon by the author. Dr. Pantula Rama has been bestowed with the greatest of boons in the form of her family background of music and her Guru Sri Ivaturi Vijayeswara Rao, who created the insight required for this work. All the primordial and Byzantine essentials for the work were already imparted as knowledge to her during the course of her Gurukulavasam. With this strong foundation Rama conducted her academic research theory and practice. She deemed the experience of stalwarts of yesteryears imperative to this effort. Hence she chose to interview 13 maestros of the field who are the bridging brigade for the past and the present. Their valuable views have been presented in this research work. Dr. Rama has been authorized by her Guru into teaching, since a very young age of 17. Her teaching and performance experience have greatly helped in an e4ffortless presentation of the book. The author herself felt new research avenues opening up during the course of the work and is therefore sure of the same in the case of other enthusiastic and worthy researching minds.
