The term 'feminist' has its origin from the Latin word 'femina' mening 'women' (through French 'feminisme') and thereby refers to the advocacy of women's right, status and power at par with men on the grounds on equality of sexes. In this anthology the first two chapters give basic ideas about Feminism and Feminest Movement. It gives details about French philosopher, novelist and essayist and ofcourse the mother of Feminism Simon De Beauvior. Irigasay's work has influenced the feminist movement in France and Italy for several decades. Kate Millett is best known for her 'Sexual Politics'. Shulamith Firestone's 'The Dilect of Sex' became a major text in Second-wave feminism in the United States.
