DESCRIPTION
Tantraloka is the masterwork of Abhinavagupta, who was in turn the most revered Kashmir Shaivism master. On account of its size and scope it is a veritable encyclopaedia of non-dual Shaivism, a treasure text containing the synthesis of the monastic agamas and all the school of Kashmir Shaivaism. The work contains both ritualistic and philosophic aspects.
Abhivanagupta is Kashmir Saivite guru (c. 950-1015), scholar and adept in the lineage of Vasugupta. Among his philosophical writings, Pratyabhijna Vimarshini and Tantraloka are an important basis of Kashmir Saivism. Also an influential theoretician of poetics, dance, drama and classical mucis, he is said to have disappeared into a cave near Mangam along with 1,200 disciples.
The publisher are proud to make the whole Sanskrit text available from the original series titled the "Kashmir Series of Texts and Studies".
