DESCRIPTION
The Digha Nikaya or the Digha Samgaha is regarded as the first book of the Sutta Pitaka. The Digha Nikaya which is a collection of longer Suttas or discourses deals with various subjects of Buddhism. It is devided into three sections which are Silakkhandha, Mahavagga and Patheya or or Pitakavagga. It has thirty four suttas, each of which deals fully with one or several points of Buddhist Doctrine.
The book 'Digha Nikaya', which is devided into three volumes. The first volume contains the Brahmajala sutta to the Tevijja Sutta(1-13). The Mahapadana Sutta is the fourteenth Sutta of the Digha Nikaya, and the second volume begins with this Sutta and the Payasi Sutta closes the volume of the Digha Nikaya(14-23). The third volume starts with Patika Sutta and ends with th Dasuttara Sutta (24-34).
