Information and security delves into the crucial aspects of the linkage between information and its use for the country's well being. India, in its sixty years of evolving as a free country has had to face multifarious external and internal security problems. So far, it is unique in surviving as a democracy in the South Asian region, where most of its neighbours have been unable to establish and sustain the same. In spite of the odds, it has come a long way and constantly fought to maintain its hard-won freedom. One of the key factors for a country's security is the us of information, which decision makers, defenders and intelligentsia must get a grip on and make best use of a vibrant media as a force multiplier, and not let it become a force degrader. The author, with wide and varied experience of the Army, counter-terrorism operations and defence public affairs, ahs strived to bring out useful lessons.
