The book World Civilizations and India deals in brief with some of the Ancient Civilizations in Africa, Western Asia and America, the classical civilizations of Europe, i.e., Greek and Rome, Byzantine Civilization of Eastern Rome, and Islam and Moslem Civilization, Ancient Indian Civilization and Chinese Civilization in South-East Asia. Modern Civilization of Europe is discussed in two phases, i.e., before Industrial Revolution and after. Russian Civilization is discussed in two phases, i.e., before and after World War II. There have been many changes after World War II. These have been discussed under United Nations and its Role in World Peace and Prosperity, Civilization of Japan and South-East Asia, Europe after World War II, Middle East after World War II, Civilization of Latin America and Africa, Civilization of China (Later Phase), Civilization of USA and Indian Civilization (Medieval and modern), India after independence and India and her neighbours. In the last chapter it is stated that tension continues between USA and European Union on the one side and Russia and China on the other, India and Pakistan, Middle East and Revolutions in Latin America and Africa. India's role in the World Civilizations has been one of tolerance, forbearance and compassion, through its two main religions Hinduism and Buddhism and continues even now, though it has some weaknesses of its own. |
