This book has been written the aim of providing a comprehensive introductory manual on the WTO, Exploring its origins, the reasons as to why it came into being, its functions and objectives, and the loopholes and scandals which have plaghed it. The 139 member WTO aims at the liberalisation of world trade, administering trade agreements through various councils and committees. A watchdog of international trade, it regularly examines the trade systems of its members, its code of conduct including the principle of non-discrimination between trading members and equal treatment for imports and domestic goods in internal markets.
This book, therefore, apart from analysing the mere history working and goals of the WTO, seeks to also address the problems associated to it, assessing their nature and providing multidimensional perspective on these issues, also seeks solutions to fight them.
