Health care is a high priority in all developing countries and is a constitutional right in a number of them. Over the past five year India's national policies have shifted sharply from expansion of facilities for hospital based care towards extension of rudimentary health services to the under served (particularly rural population).
It is observed that the public health centre in our country are essentially curative, capital intensive and are oriented towards the rich in urban areas. The fact remains that though the public health facilities are to play dominant role in the lives of the patients belonging to the rural areas but their performances have not been perfect and adequate in many areas.
