Love for education is born in the hearts of students and teachers. If it dies there, no society or nation can save it. The vitality of education is remarkable. This vitality can be realized by coming in contact with great literature and great educators of the East and West.
The book contains extracts from original sources which may quench thirst of original literature to some extent. Upanishads, Zend-avesta, Jain literature, Tripitakas, Dhammapada and Quran have been discussed and a glimpse of major schools of philosophy is available here. Naturalism, Idealism, Pragmatism, humanism, Instrumentalism, Experimentralism, Progressive, Reconstructionism, etc., have been examined critically. Some thinkers like Kabir, Tagore, Ganghi, Krishnamurti Radhakrishnan of Indian origin and Plato, Komensky, Milton, Whitrhead, Russell of Western origin have been discussed here and the educational implications have been worked out. In the end some given which are supposed to stimulate thinking on the part of students of education.
The book covers the broad spectrum of important areas of educational thought. It provides a dispassionate and objective study of the educational ideas of great thinkers and it also makes an analytical thought. It is supposed to be pioneering work on educational thinking. The book is written in a lucid style. It covers some undiscovered fields and ideas.
