DESCRIPTION
The Government of India has taken a number of steps to strengthen the educational base of the Scheduled Casts. But the Scheduled Casts still have to go a long way to come up to the level of other communities in the field of educational development. In this context, the present study has attempted to identify the spatial patterns of disparities in literacy rates with in the SC population as well as between various elements of the SC and NS population; to study the enrolment of children belonging to the Scheduled Castes at different levels of education beginning from pre-primary education up to the highest levels of education up to the highest levels with all the possible bifurcation into different standards of education.
