Recognizing the relationship between literacy and Socio-Economic Development, the Government of India has formulated and launched a number of adult literacy programmes. No doubt, the evolution reports of the programmes have revealed that programmes have attained these objectives. However, very few attempts have been made to study the extent of relation of literacy by the noe-literates over a period of time and the impact of this retained literary on their socio-economic development. The present work as an effort in this direction.
