A part of the Eastern Himalayan Region comprising the seven sister States of North East India, which have now increased to eight with the inclusion of Sikkim-the area is one of the biodiversity hotspots of the world. The region also forms a part of the Indo-Myanmar range and is credited to be the primary source of a number of floral and herbal species.
This Handbook of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of North East India is an attempt by the Research and Development Centre, Flower Valley Agro-Tech (P) Ltd. (Hojai, Assam); a division of the Ajmal Grup, to present the reader with information about the surrounding flora and environment of the area. The compilers have tried to give the basic preliminary information of the 443 species of plants described in this book, together with their medicinal properties. |
