DESCRIPTION
Ichthyology, the study of fishes is one of the popular branches of Natural History; the reason being probably that the element in which fishes live, prevents their peculiarities and habits being brought so prominently than that of those of creatures living on dry land. Many people consider natural history to be a subject like cabinets and drawers and portfolios, and making them to collects together the animal by which they are pleased more. But, fish don't lend themselves to do this kind of thing. This makes us to study them while they are fresh, or if possible alive, or, best of all, in their natural elements. No doubt, we can certainly preserve specimens in bottles, but they do not retain their natural beauty, and can be left for in a public museum for reference and comparison, such specimen have less interest. Thus, the ichylogist has no trophies to show pertaining to all their trouble and investigations.
