DESCRIPTION
The framing of curriculum for various levels of education, elementary, secondary and higher education is the most important function of the programme of physical education and sports. It needs the cooperation of experts, teachers, parent's and the students. Mostly it is done by the education departments of various state and central governments. The process of curriculum construction is a very complex activity and as such needs great attention. Not very long ago, the course of study and the curriculum were one and the same. The state department of education was often the original source of curriculum outlines. The superintendent and principal, as curriculum specialists, made a few additions and passed them on to the individual teachers. The supervisors then checked to see that the course of study was being followed religiously. Today, statewide curriculum guides do exist but these are of the resource rather than the prescriptive type. Furthermore, they represent the efforts and thinking of many people working in a coordinated manner.
