Water resource management is a comprehensive term at the present sphere of time when acute shortage of water prevails everywhere. In the global context, the Middle East Asian countries have been facing this problem for long, but the areas where mammoth freshwater reservoirs existed in the past are now facing similar problems. The sources of freshwater on the earth in the form of glaciers, rivers, natural pools, lakes, wells and groundwater are receding at an alarming rate. Receding groundwater table and over-use of surface freshwater for drinking and irrigation purposes, due to population explosion, posed severe impediments and resulted in acute problem of water. Further, with the continuous increase in water pollution, the freshwater reservoirs cannot be used for drinking purposes. If this trend continues, it would create problems for the very survival of living beings. It is the resources as a need base by implementing national policies and planning.
