The book is a result of Indo-French Rock Art Project sponsored by Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts. The aim of the project was to devise an international basic approach to rock art to deals with dating, ethnographical and conservation aspects. The excavation at Jhiri Rock shelters were conducted by the Indian team led by the author, the result of which are detailed with this book, while the preliminary report on Rock art study carried out by the French team has also been incorporated. The joint effect has resulted in reaching important conclusion which will be benefit to scholars and students in the field of Rock Art.
