While much of the text has been Rewritten, the Arrangement of the book Remains Essentially the same as that of the third Edition; the short Section on wound Treatment, However, has been omitted, as being more Properly within the Province of surgery. The Section on Materia Medica has been Considerably Sugmented and Although Profeteadly Incomplete as a Systematic Treatise on the Subject, it is Hoped that the book may now serve as a Class text to be Read as a Supplement to lecture note.
In the Present work the Subject of Diagnosis and the General Symptoms of Disease will be first Considered. The care, Management, and Nursing of sick Animals will then Receive Attention, and next will be Discussed the Actions and Uses of drugs, Prescribing, the Administration of Medicines, and Finally the Treatment of Disease will be dealt with. |
