The present work embodies the result of more than a decade's intensive floristic studies in one of the floristically very rich areas on the Western Ghats that is Thrissur, the area of the present study have remained rather under-explored. It is in this context, the Thrissur Forests for this book is decided. Total area covered- 1041 sq. Kms., number of species described are 1200 (of 695 genera and 129 families) of which several are rare/endangered and endemic. llustrations are more than 70 and photographs 20. Illustrations are of species which are rare/endangered and endemic for which illustrations are not available elsewhere. Systematic treatment-provide keys to families, genera and species (based mainly on Bentham and Hooker's system). Species descriptions include nomenclatural, citations and diagonstic descriptions and copious notes from the field. This book will be useful to teachers, researchers and students of botany and foresters, agriculture scientists and such others.
