The Marxist belief that the proletariat would be the agent of human emancipated and had begun to belief that disenfrachised groups, such as student radicals and blacks, held the key to social transformation. No revolutionary changes have occured as a result of the Frankfurt school's theories, and its traditional lies on today largely within the areas of literary and cultural studies.
