ABOUT THE BOOK:
Davangere, one of the 27 districts of Karnataka State, is located between 13 48 and 14 54 North latitude and 75 54 and 75 24 East longitude. It covers an area of 5998 sq. km. Topography and general features have been given at the beginning. Past and present work, forests and vegetation have been given next. It is folloed by key to families. In the systematic enumeration, which forms bulk of the book, a total of 867 angiosperm species belonging to 498 genera and 112 families have been enumerated. The families have been arranged according to Bentham and Hooker system with incorporation of recent changes. Under each family key to the genera folllowed by genus with its authority, key to the species and species enumeration is given.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Dr. B K Manjunatha completed his M.Sc. from Kuvemupu University in the year 1994 and Ph.D. in the Department of P.G. Studies and Research in Biotechnology in the year 2003. Presently he is the Head of the Department of Botany.
Dr. V Krishna obtained his M.Sc. degree in Botany, in the year 1986 and Ph.D. on Plant Tissue culture in 1996. He taught Plant Taxonomy for seven years in S J M First Grade College, Chitradurge and plant systematics for four years in P.G. Department of Life Sciences, Kuvempu University.
Prof. T Pullaiah obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Botany from Andhra University. he was a post doctoral fellow at Moscow state university, Russia. |
