Tribals in India present 'a significant degree of cultural and ethnic diversity. They differ in the levels of development and in their behavioural patterns. Tribals also present rich cultural heritage. However, tribal situation in India posses peculiar problems of development and people's empowerment. Moreover, tribal development posses serious challenges to the policy makers, administrators and NGO's-activists. Interestingly, development projects has no doubt brought some benefits to the people of respective areas but the benefits accrued to them have been largely outweighted by the harm more to them. Development induced displacement has caused the marginalizations of tribals and enormous problems to them. Importantly, new economic regime has led to privatization and marketization of economy and thus it has been treated as powerful threat to the survival of tribal communities.
