Since discovery of X-rays about 100 years ago, research is being conducted on radiation throughout the wold to study its beneficial and harmful effects. To commemorate the discovery of X-rays and to take stock of knowledge in this field, an International Symposium on Radiomodifiers in Human Health was organized by the Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India during 28-31 December 1995.This book comprises 23 selected papers presented at this symposium by distinguished scientists from India and abroad. The papers covered in this volume provide information on chemical radioprotectors and sensitizers, biological response modifiers, hyperthermia as well as DNA damage and repair, radiation carcinogenesis and risk assessment.The volume would be of immense use to radiobiologists, oncologists and radiotherapists.
