Waqai Holkar is the only Persian work dealing with early history of the Holkars of the former Indore State during the 18th century. The original Persian work fully covers the entire period of Yashwant Rao's active life. It was written by Mohan singh from the facts as narrated to him by Bakshi Bhawani Shankar who took service with Jaswant Rao Holkar in Feb. 1798.
