For the last few decades the scope of history has considerably broadend. It has become no longer a study of past events. The author has tried to elucidate it as a uniqe guide to new interpretation of early history of Ujjayini, which has been the subject of study by several scholars who have examined various aspects of its political, social and economic history pretaning to different periods.
