Present day science philosophy is moving towards a new synthesis of science and humanities, including the diverse cultural heritage of mankind. In fact it is a synthesis and unity of all knowledge which helps understand problems of our civilization. Leading scientists including Professor Iliya Prigogine in his book Order Out of Chaos and Stephen Hawking in his book A Brief History of Time have promoted a unity of all knowledge and harmony in society and with nature.
This book which is the proceedings of national seminar makes an attempt for the synthesis of various scientific disciplines, as also a synthesis of science and culture and spiritual heritage of Kashmir. Leading scientists, scholars and Fellows of National Akademies took part in a seminar organized on 7 April 2002 by Kashmir education, Cultural and Science Society in Pamposh Enclave, New Delhi, who provided major ideas and trends in research in various modern scientific disciplines as also the trends and focus of Kashmir's composite, cultural philosophy and spiritual heritage. This is heritage is represented for example by Kashmir Shaivism, which along with Sufism, is known world over because of great scholars and seers of Kashmir's past like Lal Ded, Nund Rishi and Abhinav Gupta being associated with it. Professor M.G.K. Menon the distinguished scientist of India delivered the inaugural address. He said there is harmony between science philosophy and Kashmiri philosophical and cultural heritage. This book should be of interest to scientists and public at large as it makes an attempt to provide a synthesis of modern science and spiritual and cultural ideas of Kashmir. |
