Scholars interested in Buddhist studies have no doubt felt a great want of an exhaustive source material of Pali literature. Many problems connected with the subject are still unsolved. We have therefore taken an attempt to provide for the first time a detailed and systematic information in the Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Pali Literature compiled in two volumes. Here one can find descriptive information of about 636 entries on Pali language and literature. We believe that none of the prominent topics have been left out from this work. This monumental work has been compiled, edited and arranged in alphabetical order. The task which we have performed is, no doubt, beset with difficulties but we shall consider our labour amply rewarded if this encyclopaedic dictionary is found useful by scholars interested in Buddhist literature, religion, philosophy and history.
