In the south India peninsula the Malabar coast is the richest in vegetation and has been famous from ancient times as the store house of valuable medicinal plants and timber trees. The native state of Travancore comprises a large section of the coast and the main portion of the western Ghats falls within its limits. The author has given here botanical description of the flowering plants of this region. There are 3535 different plants listed. Along with their botanical descriptions the author has given when available the English name, locality flowering season and use.
